All cars must be made with the parts supplied in the kits.  No alternate wheels, axels (i.e. - Pinepro) or car bodies may be used.  Cars that exceed these guidelines will not be allowed to compete. All cars will be impounded upon registration.

There are some questions I'm sure you all have regarding what lies in store for us all now that we are into the new year.  Well, I suppose the short answer is fun, excitement and more variety than you can imagine!  That's right - we've just tapped the tip of the iceberg!  There are plenty of activities to do with your Scout yet, so many in fact that we have to pick and choose which ones are likely to generate the most fun for your sons and what falls in our budget.  Here is a taste of what lies ahead:
  • Pack 6 Pizza Cookoff - each den will make a pizza and we'll see who has bragging rights for a year!
  • Blue & gold Dinner - a party to celebrate the birth of Scouting and a time to pass out awards and recognitions!
  • Crossing-over Ceremony - Weblos II's will become Boy Scouts in a ceremony that is steeped in tradition!
  • Pinewood Derby - what began as a kit containing a block of wood, four nails and plastic tires becomes a racing extravaganza!
  • Fishing Derby - fresh water fishing officially begins in April and we'll be teaching your sons how to fish!
  • Bike Rally - join us as Pack 6 takes a tour de South County trek along a bike trail and have a picnic lunch, too!
  • Raingutter Regatta - a kit not quite as complicated to build as the Pinewood Derby Car, but just as fun!  The title says it all!
  • Mount Cardigan - a mountain hike suitable for the young, old, beginner, novice or expert hiker - and an overnight camping trip!
  • Summer Camp - send your scout to day camp for a fun-filled week of fun, educational and exciting activities - July 7-11!
  • USS Constitution Ship and Museum - Pack 6 goes to Boston to see the oldest, still active warship in the US Navy!
There is plenty more going on so be sure to talk to your Den Leaders and check this website for the most up-to-date information!

Official Pinewood Derby Rules Posted

pic30931
The official rules that will be used for our Pinewood Derby Race in March are now posted on the site for all to read. Note that they are extensions of the official BSA Rules. The actual procedure of the race (who races when, how eliminations are handled, etc.) will be posted closer to the event itself.

Note: We will be holding race trials two weeks prior to the actual race. Trials are on March 1st and the race is on March 15th. Due to the size of the pack, it will be very difficult to help fix all cars on race day and we are strongly encouraging parents to have cars ready on the 1st instead and bring them to the trials to see if any further work is required to make them qualify. We will have a track set up for these trials so you can test out your cars at that time. In addition, any parents who make their own cars or siblings who make them will be welcome to race their cars for fun on this day (they cannot on official race day). We will have final inspection on race day and will help parents make their cars qualify but if you can do this on the 1st instead of the 15th, it would be a huge help. If any parents want to volunteer to be part of the official race day pit crew, please speak to Bob by March 1st.
